People wonder why Walmart employees don't have good customer service?

I'm not saying anything against our customer service, not my store anyway. In fact, I think the store I work at has one of the best customer service ratings. But at the same time, I always find people that complain that Walmart employees are rude and don't want to help.

There's a reason for that.

It's because people treat us like crap. We get the brunt of people's anger and frustration, most of the time it's misdirected. We get insulted on a daily basis, whether its our appearance or our intelligence. If we don't have something in stock at a certain time, people yell at us and point fingers as though it is our fault. If the item they find online isn't sold in stores, they point fingers at us as though it is our sole responsibility to make sure we carry the items that are sold only online.

And my biggest pet peeve is when people don't have a copyright release for their professionally taken photos. When we can't give them the photos by law, they throw a tantrum and make us out to be the bad guy, telling us it never says anywhere that they needed a copyright release form for professionally taken photos. A co-worker of mine was verbally assaulted by a woman to the point where she was almost in tears because of a slip of paper. All it is, really, is a signed piece of paper documenting that places like Walmart can legally make copies of the photos. That's it, it's so simple. Without that, we as employees face hefty fine, loss of a job, and possible jail time if the photographer decides to sue.

So please, when you're next visiting a retailer, think before you act. I know how frustrating things can be, but it doesn't mean you can take it out on someone innocent in the matter. It goes with the saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". You may not realize it, but our customer service reflects your attitude, so positive attitude equals great service.
